Resin Anchors
Whole world is running with machines say, small machines and big machines. Small machines in running condition does make some vibration and movements; hence, they mechanically anchored to the concrete horizontally or vertically. When it comes to big machines, which in engineering terms, we call it as heavy machineries, in running conditions, make much more vibrations and movements. Hence, mechanically anchoring will not resist; so heavy machines base shall be chemically anchored to the concrete.
When it comes to the extension of concrete structures (concrete stairs, concrete slabs, concrete chhajja, etc.,), resin anchors play important role for extending the reinforcement bars from the old concrete to the new structure.
Do we get soil everywhere as the base for the buildings / Dam construction? Say, we got rock; then again, resin anchors used to start the reinforcement bars from the rocks and then foundation / structure is taken up.
When concrete pavement are expected to make horizontal movement, they we need to provide the dowel bars. Here also, resin anchors play major role for inserting dowel bars and allows expansion and contraction of adjacent slabs independently.
A good resin anchor should have some basic properties and here are some of them:
- High strength: Since resin anchors are supposed to take the load of machines and safely distribute it to the base, resin anchor shall have minimum compressive strength of 60 – 75 Mpa.
- Tough, shrink-free & strong anchoring system: One of the major advantage of using resin anchor against mechanical anchor is that, the resin anchor fill the gap between the anchor rod and the substrate. Hence, anchor grout shall be non-shrink and should have minimum pull-off strength of 20 Mpa.
- Vibration and Corrosion resistant: Resin anchors are available in many chemical combinations. Among them the history is made by the polyester resin anchoring grout. These are resistant to vibration as well as corrosion resistant. Hence, they provide a long life to resin anchor system.
- Can be placed wet and damp condition: In construction industries, we can expect working site always dry. Hence, resin grout shall be applicable both in wet, damp and in dry conditions.
ARDEX ENDURA provides, EP 310 polyester resin anchoring grout which provides compressive strength of 40 Mpa at 8 Hrs and reaches 75Mpa on 7 day.
One more product by name EP 310 F is also polyester resin anchoring with fast setting property which provides compressive strength of 35 Mpa in just 3 Hrs.
